Brazilian architects Studio mk27 have completed a house in Salvador, Brazil, where the exterior walls consist of sliding latticed wooden panels.
The project, called Bahia House, was designed specifically for a hot climate and uses traditional Brazilian building techniques and materials, including clay for the roof and wood for the ceiling.
The building is organised around a central patio to maximise natural ventilation and keep the interior cool in hot weather.

Chile-based architect Veronica Arcos has completed an angular house in the El Arrayán area of Santiago, Chile.
Called Casadetodos, the residence comprises metallic frames clad in wood.
Arcos’ intention was to explore unconventional structures and provide views towards the surrounding mountains.
Three cantilevered volumes shelter a patio on one side and there is a terrace between the folds of the angular roof.
Privacy is afforded by placing no windows in the facade facing the road, while an internal courtyard and skylights admit light.
Photographs are by Gonzalo Puga. Construction photographs are by Verónica Arcos.
Here’s some more information from Arcos: – CASADETODOS The Casadetodos villa is a project that arises from a single family house commission, at the high region of El Arrayán, Santiago.
The project is articulated from the intention of exploring potentials in non conventional structures; the generation of complex surfaces and ensuring views towards the mountain.
The structural strategy consists in positioning four metalic frames on each axis. Each frame is conceived as a single architectonic piece which varies according to the programmatic needs, creating ruled surfaces, making a loft through them. ادامه مطلب |

Above: Amanda Levete Architects The project will include a new entrance to the museum from Exhibition Road and a public courtyard hosting a cafe and installations, with a new gallery for temporary exhibitions underneath.

The corners of this Vancouver family home by Canadian architect Omer Arbel can be completely opened up to the surrounding garden by pushing back glazed concertina doors.
The roof is made of douglas fir beams reclaimed from burned-down warehouses and its structure was dictated by their dimensions.
Bent steel columns inset the structural support, further blurring the boundaries between living spaces and the garden. ادامه مطلب |
